This is for clearance co-ordinators, production co-ordinators and script editors, it's for those talented people in graphics and the art department. I will give examples and aim to break down some of the concepts and ideas in clearances - but I'm not a lawyer (and imaging in most cases - neither are you.)
My aim is to give you enough information for you to be quicker and more direct when working with lawyers. Knowing the information they need to make a well informed decision quickly will speed things up for you (and them) and hopefully get you to a point where you're able to know which questions can be safely answered without them.
Working as a Clearance Consultant the media law firm Reviewed & Cleared I've covered production across terrestrial, streaming and podcast platforms. I understand the differences and nuance in their clearance requirements and can hopefully help you navigate some of that complexity.
I’ve worked on a whole range of productions - from large Hollywood titles to low budget comedies, I’ve neg checked podcasts and sourced archive footage. I've worked in contexts that stretch from the grittiest dramatisations of real world events through to family friendly fantasy worlds.
